Between Millau and Lodève, it is a real limestone and dolomitic fortress which dominates at 920 m of altitude. Shaped by water, the causse presents a succession of arid plateaus and green valleys. In the heart of the plateau, you will discover some fortified strongholds from the Middle Ages which belonged to the order of the knights of the temple. In its basements, many caves still shelter

Presentation

This is a veritable fortress situated between Millau and Lodève. Its sheer height – 920 metres - dominates the surrounding landscape. The “Causse” (limestone plateau) is shaped by water erosion, and comprises a series of smaller plateaux interspersed with verdant valleys. Right at the heart of these plateaux, you’ll find a few mediaeval strongholds that once belonged to the Knights Templar. And below ground there’s many a cheese cellar to be found!
