Guided tours for individuals or groups: visit the Cirque de Navacelles, the Museum and many other magical locations in the Lodévois and Larzac region

Caves and sinkholes

The Grotte de Clamouse is a Ministry of Environment classified site, a tourist attraction in the centre of the Herault gorges, not to be missed in the Languedoc Roussillon. It is best known for its diversity of underground caves which are almost unique in Europe! Internationally renowned for the richness of its concretions (notably of rare eccentric aragonite crystals), visiting the Clamouse is magical, like taking a trip out of time. It also makes a change from a guided tour to a traditional Speleopark! Visit and discover the Clamouse differently!

Caves and sinkholes

In a 700 m high dolomite cirque in the Terrasses du Larzac lies the natural entrance to the Grotte de Labeil, an old Roquefort cave where visitors have full access to the underground river. The sight and sound of the illuminated water is unique to behold. Follow the river to easily reach this living cave's richly coloured network of crystals.

An outstanding yet little-known heritage site, the Lodève apothecary is one of the last two pharmacies in Hérault to be preserved “in situ”. The 1 hour 15 minutes guided tour provides information on the hospital’s important role over the last centuries and the relationship the institution had with its donors. The apothecary (or pharmacy) is the highlight of the tour. Restored a few years ago, it has a dispensary containing a large number of glass and porcelain jars in a remarkable state of preservation.

A place to live or a place to stay? Feel at home, create your own space, build your own environment and share your experiences: these are the themes addressed by the Sens Europe association at Cantercel, an experimental site dedicated to living environments. In a stunning landscape with innovative architecture that lends itself to frank and open discussions, tours are organised on the first Saturday of each month and by appointment for groups. You can also sign up for an eco-housing course and stay at the “l’Oreillette” holiday cottage, where you can explore the subtle relationship between people and their environment and find out more about eco-materials and environmentally friendly building techniques.

Two religious buildings formerly stood on the site of the current cathedral. The first was built in around the 5th and 6th centuries (underground crypt) and the second was built by Bishop Fulcran and consecrated to Saint Génies in 975. The current Saint-Fulcran Cathedral was built in the Languedoc Gothic style in the 12th and 14th centuries. Initially dedicated to Saint Génies, it has been associated with the name Saint-Fulcran since the 15th century. The cloister was built in the 15th, 16th and 17th centuries. The current cathedral has a remarkable polygonal apse. The rose window and stained-glass windows by Mauvernay, the great organ, the Saint-Fulcran Chapel and the Saint-Michel Chapel also merit attention.

Gorge (glen)

Located in the "Causses et Cévennes" area, which was recently added to the UNESCO World Heritage List, the Cirque de Navacelles, listed among the "Grands Sites" of France, offers its visitors a breathtaking panorama.

Lake Salagou is an artificial lake fed by the Salagou River. The lake’s 750 hectares stretch across the towns of Clermont l’Hérault, Liausson, Octon, Salasc, Celles and Le Puech.

In a most beautiful and natural environment you can visit a magnificent Buddhist temple that is open to the public from April to October. Located to the northwest of Montpellier in France, Lerab Ling has established itself as one of the leading centres of Tibetan Buddhist culture and learning in Europe. The temple is inspired by the architecture of ancient Tibetan Buddhist monasteries.
