Conference by Caroline Lejeune. Is the forest of the Middle Ages as dark, mysterious and dangerous as the popular imagination imagines it to be? The numerous written and artistic sources, but also the study of pollens, architecture, archaeological remains of daily life give us rather the vision of a wooded area teeming with life and human activities, even industrial! But no hiking and bucolic reverie? that's for sure!
