At the end of the 1920s, on the Larzac, Paul Dardé, forced by economic difficulties, began what can be described as a real "Macbeth project". It is of course the "Shakespearian masks" in which the artist projects his own torments. It is also a profusion of drawings made with verve, urgency and few means - pen, Indian ink and wash -, originally intended for an edition. The artist endeavors to illustrate the psychology of the protagonists and to set the stage for the tragedy that resonates within him.
Bernard Derrieu's conference invites us to evoke all the ins and outs of this fascinating "Macbeth project".
