CIRQUE DU BOUT DU MONDE

CIRQUE DU BOUT DU MONDE

This is a departure point for some lovely walking routes. The area is situated in the north east of Lodève at the southern edge of the Larzac. Carved into the foothills, it acts as a natural geographical frontier. Saint-Etienne de Gourgas nestles at the feet of the 'cirque' (landscape with rock formations). The houses in this beautiful village are ancient and have been restored using traditional materials. The vineyards and gardens stretch across the length of a fertile strip of land along the Brèze valley. In the Forêt Domaniale de Paratges (state-owned Paratges Forest), various walks have been signposted starting from La Vacquerie or from Saint-Pierre-de-la-Fage.
